Shortlisting Criteria

Academic Competency

Students are selected based on academic merit and not on financial need. The committee establishes a student’s academic merit by examining the applicant’s level of excellence. Normally applicants must have passed at a level beyond average in order to compete favourable with other highly qualified applicants.

Spirituality

Applicants are supposed to demonstrate awareness of the basic tenets of the Christian Faith. This is by writing a statement of faith.

Leadership

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong leadership background. This can be at any level of secondary education, community, or church. Leadership training with any recognized Christian Leadership Agency will be an advantage, though not in itself an automatic qualification for consideration. Also encouraged is ongoing participation in a Bootcamp or mission outreach. This will be regarded as a sign of commitment to community service.

Eligibility of Continuing Students

Any continuing student entering their second year of their academic program is eligible to apply to the Honours College. Eligibility is based on the following criteria.

  • High level of academic, spiritual, and leadership competencies for both students of international and national origin.
  • Interested students must have a GPA of 3.9 and should be at least in the second semester of their first year.
  • Applicants in their final year will not normally be considered for selection

Undergraduate Applications

The Honours College Office will review all applications to be sure they meet the minimum requirements.  These applications are submitted to a committee for review. Completed forms and accompanying documents are returned to the office of the coordinator by the due date.

Invitation into the Honours College

Successful applicants become part of the University’s Leadership Development Initiative and are communicated to by the office of the coordinator with the requirements and benefits clearly stipulated.

Interviews

All short-listed applicants are subjected to qualifying interviews before the Honours College Committee. Only Short-listed applicants are invited for interviews.
