HONOURS COLLEGE NEWS LETTER

Editorial

The 2021 Christian Scholar is in a very interesting position of new opportunities because learning, research and innovations are coming with the alignment of technology the world has, as a result, become much smaller. Uganda Christian University Honours College scholars do not want to be left behind in this inevitable rise of impactful, professional and utilitarian research and education. The scholars have loved the virtual college experience which has given them a more flexible students-centred approach to mentorship and a more regular interaction with mentors and Guest Lecturers.

In order to digitally reach out more the Honours College scholars have decided to have a monthly newsletter which will be showing us the different activities they are excited to be engaged in and how their scholarship is being impacted and shaped. I am therefore delighted to introduce to you this very first issue of the Honours College Monthly Newsletter. It is a students’ publication, and these scholars are from across the different campus disciplines of study.

The scholars have been happy to interact with alumni of the Honours College who have inspired them; one example is Mr. Nicholas Nish Kihangire, a practicing Lawyer in China. In the coming editions we shall bring you more of our Alumni and tell you what they are up to.

Ms. Juan Emmanuella Zamba, the out-going president of the Honours College, has also shared her story, and her aspirations. The female Christian scholar speaks about her past, present and future, may you be blessed as you read about the different ways God has impacted her life.

In the article ‘Know your Scholar’, we are introduced to the former Vice President of Honours College, Mr. Emanuel Isabirye, a very passionate environmental conservationist. I pray you enjoy finding out about what he has been up to and what he hopes to achieve in his future.

The Easter 2021 Semester has been very invigorating; scholars have enjoyed occupying the digital space, especially when they had to agree that everything happens in a blended manner. We bring you a pictorial of our 2021 so far and we know that the days to come will even bring more interesting experiences; we shall be sharing them with you.

I pray this newsletter shows you what happens in the college and inspires you to join as a partner, scholar, mentor etc.

SEMESTER SPECIFICS

SEMESTER THEME

Innovation for social Entrepreneurship

Our activities this semester shall be directed towards addressing the current needs. We shall therefore create an impact in different subjects of study by creatively carrying out novel, relevant and informed research.

VERSE OF THE MONTH

Proverbs 27: 17

This month, our theme verse is Proverbs 27:17, ‘Iron sharpens Iron.’

We celebrate the fact that God puts us in each other’s lives so that we sharpen each other to be more effective tools in His hand. We also love the sharpening that we are receiving from our mentors, Guest Lectures and leaders that God has put in our lives.

SEMESTER SONG

Come Thou Fount Every Blessing

Our theme song this semester is the 1758 classic composition by Robert Robinson, which dwells on the theme of the matchless, Divine Grace, the same grace we shall ride on each day as we grow in Christian Leadership.

A worthy Scholar
